Call for Presentations

WMPRSA invites communications professionals to submit presentation proposals for its biennial Nonprofit Workshop. This year’s workshop will be held on September 12, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at GVSU’s Eberhard Center in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.

“Collaboration, Communication, Community” is the focus for the workshop. We understand that by collaboratively sharing our knowledge of several key facets regarding the power of communications, we can help attendees grow their position among their most important stakeholders while building awareness of their organizations within the broader West Michigan community.

Presentation topics include:

  • Media Relations
  • Social Media
  • Event Management
  • Crisis Communications
  • Strategic Planning
  • Grant Writing
  • Donor Development

We are looking for presentations that share creative, interesting, compelling, real-world examples. The attendee should walk away with actionable ideas. The presenter also should emphasize the importance of the written word for clear, concise communication. Brief writing exercises would be welcome (but are not mandatory) within the presentation as appropriate for the topic.

Your submission should include the following information:

  • Speaker name
  • Organization
  • Position/title
  • Address, city, state, zip
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Presentation title and description – 75 to 100 words describing your presentation. Include two to three learning objectives for attendees of your session. Please note that attendees are directors or employees of nonprofit organizations who often have a variety of responsibilities in addition to communications (public relations, marketing, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, events, etc.)

Deadline for your proposal is June 28, 2013. Submit your proposal HERE.
