Manages interactions with the news media on behalf of the Spectrum Health system. Uses a variety of mediums to communicate news and information including news releases, pitches, video and audio. Proactively works with internal clients and executives to identify potential stories and presents them to the media. Responds to reporter inquiries and interviews. Coordinates press conferences and other media-related events. Participates in developing media relations strategies related to issues management and crisis communications.
Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience – 8 years related experience, with 5 years of media relations experience OR sustained performance in Specialist 3 role that exceeds expectations
Experience – experience in developing and executing strategic communications and marketing plans incorporating business goals and objectives, in consultation and collaboration with clients ,Background in health care communications, preferably with a large health care system ,Demonstrated experience and results in working with print and electronic media ,experience in reputation, crisis, and disaster communications planning and execution
